(E)-4-Bromo-N-(2,3-dimethoxybenzylidene)aniline

The title Schiff base compound, C(15)H(14)BrNO(2), was prepared by the condensation of 2,3-dimeth-oxy-benzaldehyde with 4-bromo-aniline. It adopts an E configuration with respect to the C=N bond. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 56.79 (8)°. Weak C-H⋯O and C--H⋯π bonds can be found in the crystal structure.

The title compound, C20H20Br4N2, is a product of the condensation reaction of 4,6-di-bromo-2,3-di-methyl-aniline and butane-2,3-dione. The mol-ecule has a center of symmetry at the mid-point of the central C-C bond. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the 1,4-di-aza-butadiene plane is 78.3 (2)°. Niether hydrogen bonding nor aromatic stacking is observed in the crystal structure.

The aniline ring in each of the independent mol-ecules was found to be disordered, with site occupation factors 0.621 (10)/0.379 (10) and 0.605 (10)/0.395 (10).
